Genre:
Romance

Format:
E-Book

Publisher:
Avon Impulse

Release Date:
November 2016

Synopsis from Goodreads:

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Heartbreaker Bay with a fun and festive holiday novella!

It’s Christmas Eve and Rory Andrews is desperate to get home to the family she hasn’t seen in years. Problem is, her only ride to Lake Tahoe comes in the form of the annoyingly handsome Max Stranton, and his big, goofy, lovable dog Carl.

Hours stuck in a truck with the dead sexy Max sounds like a fate worse than death (not), but Rory’s out of options. She’s had a crush on Max since high school and she knows he’s attracted to her, too. But they have history… and Max is the only one who knows why it went south.

They’ve done a good job of ignoring their chemistry so far, but a long road trip in a massive blizzard might be just what they need to face their past… and one steamy, snowy night is all it takes to bring Max and Rory together at last.

My Review

This is #2.5 in the Heartbreaker Bay series. It’s a great filler between novels, but I think Max and Rory deserve their own full length book. They went from holding old grudges to declaring their love for each other a bit too fast for my liking, which is what tends to happen in novellas.   It’s not too far-fetched though since they did have a past, but it wasn't a romantic past.

We learned about Rory in the previous book, so I was glad to see her get her own story. She’s a strong character and Max is a sweetheart. I hope we’re going to see them again in the next novel.  I think you could enjoy this story on its own merit, but I think it's much better to read as part of the series.  This is an extremely fast read and a wonderful way to spend a winter afternoon while sipping a hot drink.

Jill Shalvis has a winner with the Heartbreaker Bay series. I’m ready for #3.
